Klangkultur at the Hofburgkapelle
Wiener Kammersymphonie, Les Orpheistes and Chorus ALEA
Date
26 November, 15 and 22 December 2026, 7:30 pm each
Venue
Hofburgkapelle, Hofburg-Schweizerhof, 1010 Vienna
Running time
60 to 70 minutes, no interval
The Hofburgkapelle is one of the oldest music rooms in Vienna, first documented in 1296 and rebuilt by the Habsburgs across the centuries: Romanesque under Albert I, Gothic under Frederick III, late Baroque under Maria Theresa. What remains is an acoustic that carries small forces without inflating them.
Klangkultur Wien gives three evenings here, each placed deliberately beside the expected. Chamber music in its original scoring, a soloist who brings his instrument to a repertoire never written for it, and a Christmas programme reaching from a composing emperor to Bruckner.
